| I'm writing this email so that you know just how incredibly pleased I am with my goldendoodle, Frankie, and his brother, Bruno. I purchase Frankie six years ago from Helen Small (Golden Belle Kennels) and Bruno almost two years ago. I'm a big fan of Helen and if Golden Belle Kennels ever starts a fan club, I'm appointing myself its president! I've had the good fortune of having dogs as pets all my life and I'm quickly approaching retirement age. They are by far the best breed for temperament, love, devotion and intelligence that I ever had as a pet. I do want to share a rather touching and for me, incredible story about my Goldendoodle, Frankie. In February of 2007 my wife was diagnosed with metastic breast cancer. As you can imagine, the news was devastating and both my wife and I were crying uncontrollably after receiving the prognosis. What really touched us at that very moment was that Frankie, our Goldendoodle, cried (seriously) as well. From that moment on he never left Robin's side and whenever he returned from being walked, he would search every room until he found her. Frankie was clearly attached to me, still is, but from the onset of Robin's illness he switched sides. Robin passed away at home and the hours leading up to her death, Frankie kept his eyes glued on her. He did not leave the bedroom that day, refused to eat and taking him out for a relief walk took a bit of nudging. The story doesn't quite end there for it took many months before he slept on the floor next to Robin's side of the bed. Before Robin became ill he would always sleep next to her side and then move to mine. I immediately slept on her side of the bed after her passing, a way of staying connected, but Frankie still refused to do so. His loving but strange behaviour didn't end here either. I took Frankie with me to the cemetery to keep me company as I visited my wife's grave. Initially, since no one was around, I unleashed Frankie and as he pranced on top of others grave I thought it would be respectful if I leashed him again. I did so, but unleashed him when I approached Robin's resting place. What happened next was rather remarkable! He walked around the parameter of her grave and not once did he step on top of it. He sniffed around the edges and I can't imagine that there were any leaks from her coffin which was sealed in a concrete vault and buried the proverbial six feet. I can assure you that I am of sound mind, can't explain his behaviour and either it was divine intervention or something instinctive! Two months after Robin's passing I acquired a mini Goldendoodle named Bruno to ease my mourning and as a companion for Frankie. Bruno is name after a close friend of mine who is a Dominican Priest in Rome so there is a bit of a connection to the clergy! The timing was not right since I was overwhelmed with grief and didn't think I was giving Bruno the love he deserved. My closest friend and neighbour was recently divorced and quite sad so she begged me for Bruno. Bruno now lives with her, has filled her life with love and she constantly thanks me for the gift of the puppy. Better yet, Bruno lives in my building, Frankie & I see him all the time and I mean all the time. We walk the dogs together, they often eat together, they constantly play together and best of all, Kathy and I are dating. It's one happy family! Who do I have to thank for these gifts of joy & love, Helen Small. I never had the pleasure of meeting Helen but from my first conversation with her six years ago, I instinctively had a good feeling. That feeling has proved to be right and I have recommended Helen to everyone who stops to ask me about Frankie & Bruno. On average, no less than five or six people per day ask me about Frankie and who is the breeder. I live in New York City and Frankie is in Central Park everyday. Goldendoodles, as well as Labradoodles, are everywhere in the park but Frankie and Bruno are the magnets. Their pictures are always being taken by tourist and Asians are their biggest fans. When I purchase Frankie a friend of mine acquired his sister, GiGi, at the same time and she also thanks me often for introducing her to Golden Bell Kennels. I recently told Helen that Frankie is pet all the time by strangers and must have a splitting headache by the end of the day. I'm amazed he doesn't have a flat head! I'm now anxiously waiting for another puppy from Helen, a petite. Instead of becoming a "cat" lady I've become a Goldendoodle father, many times over. My daughter and son-in-law believe that Frankie has been a great companion and is helping me heal. My brother feel in love with Frankie the first time he met him but he made a major mistake. Rather than getting his goldendoodle from Helen and after much research abut 2nd & 3rd generations and breeding out any chance of shedding he purchased his dog from a breeder in Fla. He chose Florida since that is his home state and his goldendoodle looks like a rat with long ears, great personality and yes, sheds like crazy. He loves his dog but admits he made a big mistake by not contacting Golden Belle/Helen Small. All the best, Dan |
Hello I wanted to let you know how pleased I am with the petite golden doodle puppy I purchased from Goldenbelle Kennels in Lucknow, Ontario. The breeder, Helen Small, was always available to answer my inquiries, emails and corresponded regularly with me when I requested information. In addition, it was wonderful to be able to view the pups progress on webcam on a daily basis. It provided the opportunity for me to "bond" with the pup given the great distance away (500 miles) that I live from the breeder. It also provided the opportunity to learn about the developmental stages of puppies early in the life. I learned a great deal from watching the pups progress. Helen provided early crate training and "potty" training with the potty park. This made the transition for our puppy very easy and she is comfortable in her kennel and is already housebroken at ten weeks of age. I certainly felt supported in the purchase of the pup and wanted to provide this testimonial for others to review when considering a new addition to their homes. Lynda Dukacz

She was born on June 12/2004 and we picked her up on August 4th. We went to see the pups and pick ours out when the pups were 4 weeks of age. Helen and her husband were both very nice and extremely helpful. We really wanted a doodle with retriever characteristics and we got the dog of our dreams. the poodle mix is soooooooo sweet.
I have been in touch with Helen several times with common questions and she has been absolutely wonderful. She even went back to other buyers and got her hands on some pictures and weights of Kelsey's sisters for me because she knew it would mean alot to me.
Our Kelsey is absolutely amazing....she SITS, COMES, STAYS, GIVES A PAW and the best thing of all is that she was crate trained in about 3 days. To date, we have had no accidents at all in our house. She eats and sleeps fabulously and is very healthy according to our local vet. She is a small doodle. She eats well, she is just very active and she loves her walks.
I would (and have) highly recommend this breeder when looking for a golden doodle....NO DOUBT!!!!!
Helen
I WILL send a picture one of these days. He is over 20 pounds and has had his second round of shots. The vet had never seen a doodle before and was very impressed. He continues to be so very sweet and LOVES people. We finally have him sleeping through the night in his crate. He is housebroken and rings the bell to go out. He "sits" on command and my son is teaching him to "play dead" because he is so mellow. He has been a little more energetic the past couple days...more "puppyish". He loves our children (teenagers) immensely and is very popular at school and at my dad's assisted living.
He is perfect! And SO cute! People are extremely interested in him and have had several interested in buying a doodle. No shedding yet... he is just a fluff ball! I shaved the bottom of his feet so he tracks in less dirt but he will need a haircut next month I think. The kids love his wavy fur and do not want to cut him.
He is just SO wonderful!
Thank you... Julie
Sincerely,
Jen and David
